On October 26, we fulfilled my mom’s last wish and scattered her ashes over the Oberhorn (middle) mountain. Das Oberhorn (rechts-right) und das Unterhorn (links-left) überragen Tenna (where my mom grew up), das Safiental, und Zentral Graubünden. Es herrscht eine spezielle Stille dort oben.
This is the starting point of the hike for Neni, myself, my sister and her boy-friend. Liz stayed at the base in Tenna with Lukas and Anton, who will surely complete the hike, once they are a bit older. The weather was good and reasonably warm.
We approached the mountain from the east side (right side). Ünschas Ziil, ds Oberhoora (2797m).
Ein paar Gemse auf der Kante (leider kein Zoom): A group of chamoix–deer-like animal special to Swiss mountains.
We used the path that leads to Piz Fess; some parts of the path were covered in snow, which was soft at the bottom and harder towards the colder top of the mountain. Feeling a hiker’s warmth, while breathing the cold mountain air, experiencing the soft snow, and listening to the ubiquitous sounds of water, and winds whistling over rock formations, we approach the top.
After passing the steep parts, we arrived at the snowfields (Schneeböden) on the north-easternly side of the Oberhorn.
The very last bit of the trek required some very careful climbing, here is the view from almost the top of the Oberhorn. It ought to be said that for the experience, everyone should view the full 360 degree panaroma for themselves, the only thing that can be said is that the view is special).
We climbed to the best possible place and scattered the ashes there. The wooden urn, we carried back home.
On the way down:
We made it safely back to Tenna, and received a special welcome Z’viiari from my mom’s older sister who specially prepared carrot cake, bread, cheese, and meat for us.
This special trip fulfills the very last wish that my mom had. She will always be missed, but lives on in our hearts and now we can always find her.
I”m so glad you were able to fulfill your mom’s last wish…I’m sure it meant a lot to you to be able to do that….thinking of you and keeping you in my heart, Thomas

A very nice and moving description of your mom’s last wish. We are glad you could do so. Wishing you, your sister and your dad especially God’s blessings.
May the Peace of The Lord be with your family. So beautiful that you were able to complete this journey in your Moms memory.
