Mt. Baldy Hike (to Ski Hut)

This winter has been dry and Mt. Baldy has no snow – even in February. We started our ascent from 1850m early in the morning.  As Californians, we were a bit surprised to experience the cold mountain air. Supposedly on top of Mt. Baldy it would be just below freezing early in the morning. But with the sun warming our backs and hiking briskly, we quickly warmed up. We finished at the ski hut at about 2550m and saw the clouds coming in, rather than hitting the summit, we enjoyed a lengthy brunch, and just took in the views and the cool mountain air. A beautiful day.

Anton was tired first, then Lukas, but both boys did really well and we arrived soon at the Ski Hut for a lunch and relaxing time to enjoy the view.

Arriving at the hut, we had a big brunch 🙂

Some clouds came in later and covered up the sun.

We traversed a little bit of a brook; I wished I brought my LifeStraw and checked out the water. We had plenty of water, though.
