So, I finished my first book in Vietnamese. Tên của quyển sách này là xách ba lô lên vá đi. It turned out – as I found out later – it was a best-seller in Vietnam. It was written by a new age Vietnamese youth author who has bold ideas and an open style. I recommend the book to anyone studying Vietnamese as it uses basic language and easy-descriptive language. I had the good fortune (and was lucky she was in town) to have coffee and speak with the book’s author one afternoon as she happened to be in town and promised to sit down with me and have coffee in cafe Giảng in the Old Quarters. She speaks great English, but we managed to have a good part of the conversation in Vietnamese.
